Casa Reyes Bistro Filipino amazed me with its different, delightful, and delicious take on the traditional pinakbet. Their Crispy Pinakbet is the best and most unique version of all the crispy pinakbets today.
It’s semi-deconstructed. That means, the meat and vegetables that are coated in a special batter and deep-fried to crunchy perfection are separated from the sauce. Crunchy pork belly is served on top. The sauce on the side is absolutely perfect, in fact, it’s even way better than the sauce of the usual pinakbet.
Pinakbet, traditionally, is a dish made with stir-fried meat, vegetables, stock, and fermented fish or shrimp paste.
But before you eat their Crispy Pinakbet, you have to try their awesome appetizer, Tinapa At Kesong Puti Lumpia With Mango Salsa Lettuce Wrap. The smoky taste of the fish (tinapa) goes well with the subtle creaminess of the cheese (kesong puti). And this becomes even more refreshing when wrapped in lettuce smothered with yellow mango salsa.
Casa Reyes now serves its All Day Breakfast selection too. All Day Breakfast is available from 7am to 10pm and is served with two eggs, garlic rice, and mango salsa, with free coffee or regular iced tea when ordered from 7am-10am. Honey Fried Chicken and Longganisa Sampler (Vigan, Lucban, Tuguegarao, and Garlic Chicken Longganisa) are included in the All Day Breakfast menu. Also, try their rich and tasty Butter and Garlic Shrimps with Creamy Aligue Sauce, and, Chicken Inasal Sisig.
And of course, for dessert, you simply MUST order their Frozen Brazo De Mercedes. It’s the best version of frozen brazos I’ve tasted in the country. It’s a layered cake with graham crust, custard, mantecado ice cream, and fluffy meringue. Frozen Brazo De Mercedes is a twist from the original Brazo De Mercedes with custard rolled in fluffy meringue.
Casa Reyes is one of the “Reyes” restaurants, with that trusted tradition of excellence and culinary expertise. They are descendants of Mama Sita who’s popular for her Filipino dishes, sauces, and recipes. Other “Reyes” restaurants include Serye, Aristocrat, Alex III, Reyes Barbecue, and others.
