A concept restaurant that has an eclectic and industrial look matching the creative dishes they serve — that’s Buku-Buku Kafe.
Buku-Buku is a Bahasa term for ‘many, many books’ and you will surely find many books when you look up, hanging from the ceiling.
You can also find on the walls faucets with lightbulbs and a huge mural too.
SISIG NACHOS
For starters, you can order the Sisig Nachos. I just couldn’t stop eating this. This is nachos and cheese, pork sisig, chili egg salsa, and garlic cream aioli.
BAGNET AT CHICHARRON BULAKLAK
This is my favorite from Buku-Buku’s rice meals. It has deep-fried pork belly, crunchy chicharron bulaklak, pineapple fried rice, fried eggplant enselada, and pinakurat vinegar.
ASIAN FRIED CHICKEN ADOBO
This is chicken adobo with veggies. It has Chinese chicken, yang chow fried rice, steamed garlic bok choy, and roast chicken liver sauce. It’s good!!!
GENERAL GORENG
This dish has chicken with sweet and spicy sauce, Malaysian nasi goreng rice, broccoli, baby radish, egg, carrots, bean sprouts, and candied dilis.
And since I have a sweet tooth, I can’t stop raving about their desserts. This was actually the best part of my meal.
CARAMEL POPCORN BROWNIE
This is my favorite among the desserts. The crunchy popcorn served fresh with its salty caramel coating, perfect with the dark chocolate brownie.
FLAT TOP S’MORES
Brownies, with toasted marshmallows and chocolate flat tops.
ROASTED CHOCNUT BROWNIE
Peanut butter brownies with roasted chocnut on top.
CALAMANSI LECHE FLAN
It’s calamansi flavored flan with candied calamansi. Refreshing.
This art-inspired restaurant, with instagram-worthy decors, is a also venue for upcoming artists and musicians. They help sell artworks and have live performances as well. For bookworms, they also have a collection of comics and magazines one can enjoy in their ‘book reading space.’
Buku-Buku Kafe is owned and operated by Lyn Santiago, heading the operations, her daughter Jessica handles digital marketing, and her son Nicholas heads the marketing efforts.
